Srinagar, May 01 (KNO): After witnessing a surge in Covid-19 cases for the past few weeks, the cases have started to decline once again in J&K. Health officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that Covid-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir that witnessed a surge in past weeks along with the rest of the country are on decline again. They said that though there was a surge in Covid-19 cases in the past few weeks but hospitalization rate wasn't too much. They said after the second wave, J&K has witnessed many minor waves but hospitalization rate wasn't too much in any wave and around 95 percent positive patients recovered at their homes. They said that small waves can come in future too but that can trigger a seasonal flu without much disruption in routine life. They said most of the population is vaccinated and the maximum population has already developed antibodies due to which it is unlikely that a person can get a severe disease even if he contracts the virus. Notably, on Monday no covid-19 positive case was reported in Kashmir in the last 24 hours. As per details available with KNO, 1026 positive cases were reported in Kashmir division in the last one week. There are 117 active cases in Kashmir while 1091 persons have recovered in the last one week and no death has been reported in the last three months in Kashmir. Moreover, 310,292 RAT and 15,996 RTPCR tests were done in the Kashmir division in the last seven days. Officials said that there is no need to panic but people must take precautions and the government is keeping vigil on new variants by conducting genome sequencing of some positive cases. They said that J&K is ready to tackle any situation in future as well but people must take precautions—(KNO)
